Sign Up for the MDF Work Day!

MSTThe NDPC and Mule Deer Foundation is seeking volunteers and contributors for an Industry Work Day on Thursday, September 9th at the Shade Ranch South of Medora.

WHAT:  The goal of the project is to reduce the number of juniper and cedar that have encroached on the grasslands.

WHEN:  Thursday, September 9th beginning at 8 a.m. MST through end of the day.

WHERE:  14219 Tracy Mountain Road, Medora (Easiest way is to go south of Fryburg, go west about a half mile until you get to the first left, turn and follow that road all the way)

WHAT’S NEEDED:

• Equipment to cut trees (chainsaws and mechanical equipment that can pull or cut trees)
• Equipment to haul or drag to slash piles for future burning (skid steers, UTVs, trailers, dump trucks)*
• Lunch provider and/or sponsor
• Water, gloves, snacks
• Volunteers!

*Work will take place on the flatter areas or accessible areas.  We would also like to chain/rope up trees that were previously cut, but some are in tough places so ropes/chains with bobcats or UTVs would be needed to drag them down or up off the sides of the butte/hills. Marshall Johnson with the Mule Deer Foundation would be willing to meet with interested parties out there in advance to look at the terrain and discuss project regarding equipment needs if requested.
