Birds & Birdies
The 4th Annual Birds & Birdies tournament is a shooting and golf event benefiting the North Dakota Petroleum Foundation.
Teams will be scored in three shooting competitions (including trap, rimfire, and archery) followed by a golf scramble.
Must register as a team. All team members must compete in all events.
Registration will open in Spring of 2025.
SCHEDULE

Birds – McKenzie County Sportsman’s Club

7-7:45 a.m. Check-In
7:15 a.m. Light Breakfast
7:45 a.m. Announcements and Safety Talk
8 a.m. Trap, Archery, and Rimfire Start
Immediately after shooting (circa 10:30 a.m.) – Check In at the Fox Hills Golf Course. If the shooting portion ends earlier than expected, we will kick off the golfing portion ASAP.
11 p.m. – Lunch @ Fox Hills Golf Course – 3104 4th Ave NE
12 p.m. Golf Scramble – Shotgun Start
Circa 5 p.m. Awards Social
RULES
BIRDS
Teams will be scored in the following:
– 25 round trap shoot
– 10 shot archery competition
– 20 round .22 rimfire rifle competition
Each participant will need to bring their own 12 or 20 gauge shotgun. All ammo, ear & eye protection, open sight rifles, and archery equipment will be provided.
Prizes also awarded to the top 2 individual high scorers in each discipline.
ADDITIONAL GAMES
There will be additional optional games for cash buy-in and cash prizes that shooters can participate in while waiting for other stations.
BIRDIES
Teams will compete in a 18-hole max bogey golf scramble. Some clubs will be available for rent from Fox Hills Golf Course ($20).

ADDITIONAL GAMES
Money Ball: Teams can purchase one a numbered ball for $50. The ball is to by played throughout the course. If a team has the ball at the end of the scramble, the ball will be placed into a drawing for a prize.
Mulligans: Teams may purchase a maximum of two mulligans for the team.
PRIZES
Prizes will be announced immediately after the finish of the Birdies portion of the tournament at the Fox Hills Golf Course Clubhouse.
Winners and prizes for additional shooting games, individual high scores, Money Ball, Longest Putt, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Drive (Men’s and Women’s) will also be announced at this time.
OVERALL TEAM WINNERS
Team winners will be determined from a combined score of both the Birds and Birdies competitions.
FIRST PLACE PRIZE WILL BE AWARDED
Prizes will also be awarded for 2nd and 3rd Overall Team Winners.
DOOR PRIZES
Winners must be present to claim a door prize. Door prizes will be available for pick-up at the awards social at Fox Hills Golf Course following the Birdies portion of the tournament.

Max of 36 teams. A waitlist will form once 36 max team spots are filled. Payment must be received by May 1st to secure your team’s spot.

Our Programs and Initiatives
The North Dakota Petroleum Foundation operates several programs, events and initiatives aimed at providing and supporting education and outreach opportunities related to the oil and gas industry; developing and advancing quality of life initiatives; and, promoting and enhancing the conservation heritage of North Dakota.
BAKKEN ROCKS COOKFEST
Held in a Bakken community each summer, this free festival offers food, music, games and activities for kids, and the opportunity to meet and learn from oil and gas companies and their employees operating in our state.
PLANTING FOR THE FUTURE
Planting for the Future is a habitat and conservation program that provides trees and shrubs for large-scale planting projects to private landowners, city and county parks, and others interested in building habitat for the future.
TEACHER EDUCATION SEMINAR
This seminar offers educators the opportunity to earn continuing education credits while learning about the oil industry, touring a rig and other oilfield facilities, ideas to take back to the classroom.
NORTH DAKOTA ENERGY EDUCATION
The ND Energy Education program offers free educational tools, resources and seminars to both students and teachers to help them learn more about North Dakota's oil and natural gas industry and explore energy in STEM.
AL GOLDEN SCHOLARSHIP
Named after North Dakota oil pioneer, the Al Golden Scholarship awards a $2,000 scholarship each year to up to nine students pursuing post-secondary education or training in an energy-related field.
