Toy Drives and Angel Trees
NDPC TOY DRIVE
The North Dakota Petroleum Council is hosting a toy drive benefitting Ministry on the Margins.
If interested in participating, please bring an unwrapped toy or gift card suitable for any child aged 0-18 to the NDPC’s Christmas Gala on December 8th or drop off donations at the NDPC office located at 100 W Broadway Avenue, Suite 200 in Bismarck.
There are several ways to spread holiday cheer this year in Dickinson:
Menards and United Way are partnering to host a Toy Drive for the Dickinson area. Please stop by Menards on or before November 30th and donate a toy, clothing, or something similar to help local underprivileged children have a joyful holiday. Please note, the gift you donate does not have to be bought at Menards.
The United Way will have Angel Trees at WCCU on Highway 22, the Backyard Play Cafe, Ameriprise downtown, and a preteen/teen drive at Serendipity. Those interested in participating may stop by to pick up a tag.
Salvation Army of Minot
The Salvation Army of Minot has several volunteer and donation opportunities this holiday season:
More than 200 children are participating in the Salvation Army of Minot’s Angel Tree program this year. Angel Tree tags will be hung by local businesses for customers to fill and drop off unwrapped at the Corps located at 315 Western Avenue or the business where you found the tag.
The Salvation Army of Minot encourages members of the community to volunteer two hours of their time at any of their nine kettle sites this holiday season. Kettle Ringers will be needed every day from November 18th through Christmas Eve with the exception of Thanksgiving Day and Sundays. All proceeds stay in the community for their programs and services. To volunteer, visit http://www.registertoring.com/ or call 701-838-8925.
The Toy Shop:
There are opportunities to help with the Salvation Army of Minot’s toy shop with packing once gifts start coming, as well as on December 14th and 16th when families come to pick up gifts.
Holiday food drives tend to pop up during the busy holiday season, and there also may be volunteer opportunities to help with these efforts. Click here to watch for opportunities as they arise.
Minot Area Homeless Coalition TOY DRIVE
The Minot Area Homeless Coalition hosts a toy drive and toy shop for families in need. They also have a family sponsor program. Contact their office at 701-852-6300 or email@example.com to sponsor a family for Christmas. A wants/needs list for the whole family is available to make shopping easy.
Community Action Partnership SANTA SHOP
Community Action has a Santa Shop where parents are allowed to shop for toys and other gifts for their children for Christmas. Donations of new toys for all ages are welcome. They also create Thanksgiving food baskets for local families. Contact 701-839-7221 for more information.
Watford City Police Foundation’s Blue Santa
The Watford City Police Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit that is formed with law enforcement personnel in McKenzie County. The Foundation hosts events throughout the year in order to raise money to benefit children in McKenzie County.
One of its annual initiatives is the Blue Santa Program. Volunteers will purchase gifts and other items for families in need. The Foundation typically spends between $35,000 and $40,000 per year to ensure families have necessities and gifts for the holiday season.
Monetary donations are welcome to support this and other programs.
Eagles Auxiliary Angel Tree
Watford City Eagles Auxiliary’s annual Giving Tree for Social Services gives families the opportunity to provide the holiday spirit, but also to show kindness and support.
Last year, they provided jackets, shoes, mittens, beanies and toys for more than 200 kids. Along with providing all those to the kids, they also provide a box full of food, blankets, household cleaning items, toiletries to each family. Watford City Eagles Auxiliary relies on generous donations from caring people like you to provide this important service to the community.
Watford City Eagles Auxiliary is in need of cash donations, paper towels, toilet paper, diapers (size 3 & 4), toiletries items (toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant) and blankets. If you would like to donate any of these items in lieu of cash donations it would help tremendously. If you would like to help, please have all donations to the Watford City Eagles Auxiliary located at 1904 Main Street in Watford City by December 4th. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated and will make a difference in the lives of so many people, right in Watford City.
